Jillian Ducharme  -  Spirit of Dance Awards Emcee and Specialty Judge
Jillian graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She was a member of the University Dancers touring company and was awarded the Chancellor's Talent Award for three years. While at UMass, she set three works of her own for their Emerging Choreographers Series and Alive With Dance concert. Jillian has worked with New York choreographer Randy James and has performed as a company member of the New York based Push Factor Dance Company. In CT, Jillian has been a company member with Full Force Dance Theatre, DancEnlight, and Dance Connect for whom she has performed as well as choreographed for. Jillian has many years of competition experience both as an instructor and an adjudicator, and for 3 years was the model choreographer for DesignWorks costume catalog. Her teaching experience includes classes in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and modern, at several studios in the New England area including The Connecticut Concert Ballet, The Hartt School and the Massachusetts Academy of Ballet. Jillian is thrilled to be working with Spirit of Dance Awards again this season as their Emcee and Specialty Judge!



Sarah Keegan  was born in England and trained at the prestigious Elmhurst Ballet School.  She continued her training earning her BA in Musical Theatre from the London Studio Centre.  Sarah studied classical ballet, contemporary dance, jazz, tap and musical theatre, and she was a member of the Contemporary Ballet Company.  Her performing career has taken her from the theaters of the West End to Europe, where she has performed and taught extensively for various companies.  Upon moving to the U.S., Sarah became a Radio City Rockette and has appeared in musicals, film and television. Her credits include Singing in the Rain, George M, Law and Order, Stepford Wives, Without a Trace, and a Paramount Pictures dancer.



Liz Piccoli  has worked professionally as a performer, an instructor and a choreographer for over 10 years. Liz has choreographed several top award winning numbers for collegiate dance teams, and was herself a member of the First Place National Champions, Rutgers University Dance Team. Among her professional credits are industrials, television, film, stage and theater. For three seasons Liz was a dancer with the Metropolitan Opera in NYC, as well as with the Lyric Opera, has appeared in West Side Story, 42nd Street, MTV’s "Making the Video", and as a featured dancer in Joe Lanteri’s Zoot Suit Strut.  Always busy, she has choreographed and performed her own original off Broadway show, Crazy, Sexy Disco, is a choreographer for the New York City Jazz Choreography Project at Alvin Ailey and has recently booked an SDC Observership/ Assistant Choreograper with Dan Knechtges for a new Off-Broadway production.  Liz’s love and passion for dance and the arts continues to be a force in her life.

Shawn Mahoney has a distinguished list of credits throughout his career as a dancer.  His early training included The Boston Ballet Center for Dance and the American Ballet Theatre School, where he was an ABT apprentice.  Shawn subsequently went on to become a principal, soloist and a corps de ballet dancer with The Boston Ballet for six years before becoming an invited member of Twyla Tharp's "Twyla Tharp & Dancers".  Through his career, Shawn has had the honor of performing at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and as a guest artist with Suzannne Farrell & Company and The Balanchine Project to name a few.  In 2001 he founded Mahoney Agency, in which to represent dancers, providing them opportunities for performance engagements.  Shawn has since continued teaching master classes, choreographing, coaching, adjudicating, and in 2006 was appointed a faculty position at Emerson College.


Michelle Tolson received her degree from Notre Dame College and went on to enjoy a successful dance career.  An Alvin Ailey and Gus Giordano scholarship recipient, Michelle performed with the Rockettes at the Rosemont Theater in Chicago before being selected as a Rockette in New York City, performing at Radio City Music Hall.  As a Rockette she performed in the Macy's Parade, on the Today Show, the Isaac Mizrahi Show, and other venues.  She has also worked on shows such as "Tap Girls" and "42nd Street", and toured the country in the national promotion “Absolute Tap”.  As a professor at Wagner College in New York, Michelle teaches Musical Theatre Dance, Jazz and Tap in the Musical Theater department. Michelle has continued to teach dance in the NJ/NY area as well as judging various dance competitions, most recently as a director for Dancer's Inc.  


Eddie Bennett  has established himself as a professional entertainer with over 16 years in the theatre industry.  His first professional credit landed him in the lap of L.A. based choreographers, Helene Phillips and Barry Lather.  Eddie soon moved on to national tours and regional theatre credits in such shows as A Chorus Line, Gypsy, & Bye Bye Birdie. This year marked Eddie's 11th year with CHICAGO: The Musical on Broadway.  In addition, he has received rave reviews for his choreography and work with 80?s pop icon Debbie Gibson.  This year Eddie choreographed (with fellow judge, Buddy Casimano) her summer tour with Tiffany called: A Journey Through The 80's.  His credits also include choreographing The Flunky: A New Musical, Bianca Marroquin's: LUZ and most recently the movie FISH. Along the way, Eddie has had the opportunity to work with many celebrities including, Patrick Swayze, Patti LaBelle, Usher, Wayne Brady, Lisa Rinna, Bebe Nuewirth, Chita Rivera, Tom Wopat, Lillias White, Carol Woods, and Kara Dioguardi, to name a few.  His biggest accomplishment has been his son, Raz.

Buddy Casimano is a performer with 25 years of working experience in all mediums of show business. Before tumbling into show business, he was a competitive elite level gymnast, as well as a 3 time Jr. Olympic swim champion.  In the 80's,(after beating her in his High School talent show...), he became a back-up dancer & choreographer for teen pop sensation Debbie (Deborah) Gibson, touring the world with her for 7 years.  After his 3rd world tour with Deborah, he pursued his dream of dancing on Broadway.  If you stay focused, & work hard?sometimes your dreams come true!  Some of his favorite show credits include: Broadway's Miss Saigon, Starlight Express, Hercules Live, Red Hot Broadway, Miss Saigon 1st National Tour, That's Christmas & most recently, POP goes BROADWAY (starring Deborah Gibson and co-choreographed with fellow judge, Eddie Bennett). Buddy has been kicked by Madonna, had his nose broken by Sandy Duncan, fell down the stairs with Sally Struthers, & sipped tea with George Michael... A pair of his dance shoes are displayed in the Hard Rock Cafe, as well as in the Smithsonian pop-culture exhibit.  He has appeared in numerous music videos on MTV, & worked with other recording artists such as... Sylvester, Deborah Cooper, Darlene Love, Paul Young, & Tommy Page.  His legs were the model for Elvis in the international "ABSOLUT Memphis" ads.  Buddy has danced for some of the best choreographers & directors including; George Schlatter, Twyla Tharp, Jerry Mitchell, James L. Brooks, Arlene Phillips, Michael Peters, Otis Salid, Jodi Moccia, & Paula Abdul, and has directed and choreographed some incredible performers such as: Ben Vereen, Karen Ziemba, Jennifer Holliday, Adrian Zmed, Asa Somers, Eugene Fleming, Andrea McArdle, Anthony Rapp, Norm Lewis & Lea Salonga.  Buddy has been teaching dance & judging National talent competitions for 20 yrs, and currently teaches master classes in jazz, musical theater, lyrical, & his own athletic, jazz-infused style, "Buddy-ography".  Now? Cara Goodwin - Bio Coming!


Garrett Bradley is a native of Michigan now residing in New York. He has traveled internationally, performing with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and toured nationally as a back-up dancer for Neil Young and Emmylou Harris. Garrett recently served as Dance Captain for the 60’s musical "Twist and Shout" in Niagra Falls, as well as "The Spirit of Christmas" at the Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City. Other credits include: Footloose, Fame, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. When not performing, Garrett enjoys traveling the US, working with students as a guest choreographer, instructor and adjudicator.


Denise LaPointe  is currently on staff at Steps on Broadway in Manhattan.  Her training includes the Philadelphia College for the Arts, where she had the opportunity to teach as an adjunct and to receive additional training at The Ailey School.  Denise's credits include European tours of West Side Story, and a Chorus Line, regional productions of A Chorus Line, as well as work with independent choreogrpahers.  Her work has been presented at various showcases in NY, Steps Performance Series, and The International Dance Festival to name a few.  Denise also has extensive experience as an adjudacator and convention teacher at both regional and national events.  An avid practitioner of Yoga & Pilates, Denise is certified in Zena RommettFlorbarre and Core Power Fushion.


Jody Reynard   Within two years of graduating from Kennesaw State University College of the Arts, Jody had appeared in the National Tour of Camelot with Robert Goulet, and had been cast in the Broadway production of Fosse staged by Ann Reinking.  Jody has performed in many Broadway, Regional & Touring productions; Legally Blonde, Saturday Night Fever, Kiss Me Kate with Rex Smith & Rachel York, Beauty and The Beast, Smokey Joe’s Café, and My Fair Lady with Kelsey Grammer to name a few.  He has also appeared in several national television spots including the PBS documentary film Show Business: The Road to Broadway, as a performer in Taboo.  After being involved with competitions as an adjudicator for several years,  Spirit of Dance Awards is happy to welcome Jody to our “team” this season.


Todd Walker received his Bachelor of Performing Arts from Oklahoma City University’s Ann Lacy’s School of American Dance and Arts Management. While at OCU, Todd was a featured performer with American Spirit Dance Company. Most recently he has performed with the Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the "World Famous’ Rockettes. Todd has performed at Busch Gardens, in Las Vegas, and with prestigious regional theaters including MTWichita, The Palace Theatre, The Mansion Theatre, and Papermill Playhouse. He has had the opportunity to share the stage with such artists as Kristin Chenowith, Reba McEntire, Savion Glover, Toby Keith and the All American Rejects to name a few. Todd’s favorite Musical Theatre credits include, CATS, Hairspray, Peter Pan starring Cathy Rigby, Les Misérables, White Christmas, The Producers.


Nuala Potts, a native New Yorker, holds a BA in Theatre Dance from C.U.N.Y. Queens College. Her proximity in NY allowed her to work regularly with artists such as the Martha Graham Company, American Tap Dance Foundation, Limon Dance Company, Dance Theatre Etcetera, Manhattan Tap, and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. Nuala has been a competitive Latin Ballroom dancer and appeared as a featured tap dancer on the PBS Dance in America Series for the Gregory Hines Special. She has established herself as a teacher, director, judge and choreographer throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. The eclectic teaching style she has developed, led Nuala to be recruited from the US to Canada to implement dance programs for several of Vancouver’s leading dance institutions.  Nuala is an advisory board member of several organizations dedicated to fostering the art of dance through choreographic residency programs, public and private school curricula and professional performance based projects.
